The United Nations announced the killing and wounding of about 500 children as a result of the ongoing conflicts in Iraq during the current year.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubis and UNICEF representative in Iraq, Peter Hawkins said in a joint statement: “The continuing conflict in Iraq caused heavy losses in the lives of the most vulnerable citizens, represented by children.”
