Tens of millions of Muslims are gathered in Holy Karbala for Arbaeen. In the world’s largest annual gathering of people, Shia Muslims from across the world thronged the city of Karbala in Iraq to mark the fortieth day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Husain, peace be upon him. The pilgrimage holds great significance for Shia Muslims in particular. A large number of pilgrims from India came to Iraq to mark the event. The Iraqi consulate in Mumbai said it had received hundreds of visa applications this year. Despite the threats, the number of pilgrims continues to swell every year. By chanting “Labbaik Ya Husain” throughout the walk, the pilgrims pledge their service to Imam Husain, peace be upon him, and the idea of fighting for justice.
