Culture Center of Latvia is worried about the growing Islamophobia in Latvia
The Islamic Culture Center of Latvia is worried about the growing Islamophobia in Latvia, and invites mass media to pay more attention to the way how Islam-related information is presented to the public.
The center’s spokesman believes that Islamophobia can be clearly observed in Latvia. This is evidenced by a recent case of vandalism that took place on the night to September 27, when the Riga Mosque on Brivibas Street was sprayed with graffiti that insults Islam, which in the center’s opinion is an “openly hateful and aggressive” message.
The Islamic Culture Center of Latvia urges mass media to pay attention to such attacks, a well as the way how information about Islam is presented.
