CNews sanctioned for discriminatory remarks about Algerians, Muslims and Palestinians

France’s audiovisual regulator Arcom has imposed €100,000 in fines on the continuous news channel CNews over two programs aired in the summer of 2025 that it said risked encouraging discriminatory speech, IQNA reported.
In a decision announced on February 11, Arcom said comments made during episodes of L’heure des Pros 2 were problematic. In one broadcast on August 8, former minister Noëlle Lenoir made generalized remarks linking “millions of Algerians” to public security risks, which the regulator said could stigmatize people based on national origin.
In a separate segment, a columnist criticized what she described as pro-Palestinian positions of “liberal Western thinkers,” which Arcom judged could reinforce discriminatory stereotypes tied to political opinions or communities.
The sanctions come as CNews faces internal tensions and recent departures within its editorial staff.
