Algeria Launches Traveling Quran Recitation Caravan Across Mascara Province
……………..
Algeria’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments, in collaboration with the Mascara Provincial Office of Tourism and Handicrafts, has initiated a traveling Quran recitation caravan. Launched on July 11 under the theme “The Light of the Quran Guides Us and the Memory of the Free Is Our Commitment,” the caravan began at the Imam Muslim Mosque in Mascara city.
Renowned Algerian reciters, including Abdelaziz Sahim, Abdelkarim Belhassen, and Abdelmonem Baroudi, performed during the event. Over three days, the caravan will visit mosques in multiple towns such as El Kharroub, Ghriss, Tighenif, and others, featuring ten reciters from across Algeria.
Besides Quranic recitations, the program includes religious activities like ibtihal by students from local Quranic schools and zawiyas, alongside lectures on Quran memorization led by mosque officials. The initiative will culminate with a closing ceremony, honoring the reciters and young Quran memorizers aged 9 to 14.
