Nature Survey Finds FOMO Driving Scientists’ Growing Use of AI
——————————–
The rapid development of new technologies is reshaping academic environments and research institutions around the world.
Scientists are increasingly navigating a difficult balance between ethical concerns over digital tools and the competitive pressure to keep pace with technological change.
According to the scientific journal Nature, a survey of more than 1,900 researchers found that the “fear of missing out,” commonly known as FOMO, is a major factor driving the use of artificial intelligence in research.
The report said that although nearly half of respondents expressed negative views or concerns about the consequences of AI, many still feel compelled to use the technology in order to maintain their competitive position in the research field.
