Nvidia has unveiled a powerful new chip designed to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities directly into laptops and desktop computers, marking a significant step in the company’s effort to broaden AI applications for personal devices. CEO Jensen Huang introduced the RTX Spark superchip at Nvidia’s annual GTC event in Taipei, describing it as a transformation that “will reinvent the PC.”
The chip combines CPU and GPU functions, enabling Windows laptops and desktops from brands such as Microsoft, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, MSI, Acer, and GIGABYTE to run AI agents locally, perform complex workloads, and support advanced applications for research, productivity, and gaming. Nvidia developed the chip in partnership with Taiwan’s MediaTek.
The move positions Nvidia against competitors like AMD, Intel, and Apple, with analysts noting that AI-enabled PCs could reshape computing over the next decade. Early demonstrations highlighted AI agents capable of interacting with users, analyzing files, and assisting with tasks autonomously.
