Google Unveils Gemma 4 AI Models as OpenAI Brings ChatGPT Voice to Cars
—————————————
Google has officially launched Gemma 4, the latest generation of its open‑source artificial intelligence models. The new models, released under the Apache 2.0 license, are designed to run efficiently across a range of devices from mobile phones to high-performance workstations. Gemma 4 supports advanced reasoning, agent‑style workflows, multimodal inputs such as text, images, and video, as well as code generation. The models also support more than 140 languages, highlighting their global applicability.
Meanwhile, OpenAI has introduced a voice-enabled version of ChatGPT for Apple CarPlay, available for iPhones running iOS 26.4 or later. The feature allows drivers to interact with the AI assistant hands-free, asking questions and receiving spoken responses via the vehicle’s audio system. For safety reasons, the CarPlay integration does not display text or visuals on the car screen, nor does it control navigation or vehicle functions. The interaction is limited to voice dialogue and must be launched manually through the ChatGPT app.
These developments reflect ongoing trends in AI, emphasizing open access, developer flexibility, and safe integration of AI tools into everyday environments, from professional development platforms to in-car applications.
