Al-Azhar Warns Against Use of AI for Anti-Muslim Election Propaganda in India

Al-Azhar’s Observatory for Combating Extremism has warned against the alleged use of artificial intelligence (AI) by India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to create inflammatory campaign videos targeting Muslims ahead of elections.

According to Al Jazeera, the Cairo-based institution expressed deep concern over the misuse of emerging technologies to spread hate speech and manipulate public opinion, calling it a serious threat to social harmony and democratic integrity.

Al-Azhar urged the Election Commission of India to implement stricter regulations to monitor and curb digital disinformation and hate content, stressing that unchecked AI-generated propaganda could further polarize Indian society.

The observatory reiterated that modern technologies should serve as tools for development, coexistence, and peace, not instruments of division or hostility.
