Major Internet Outage: Hundreds of Global Websites and Services Disrupted
———————————-
A large-scale internet outage disrupted access to hundreds of major websites and apps worldwide on Monday, following a technical failure in Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s largest cloud computing platforms.

According to BBC, users were unable to access popular services including Snapchat, Tinder, Canva, Duolingo, and Roblox, while several Amazon-owned products such as Alexa and Ring, along with banking and cryptocurrency platforms, were also affected.

The website Downdetector reported that more than 500 companies experienced service disruptions, receiving over 4 million outage reports within hours — more than double the weekly average.

As of late Monday, the outage was still ongoing, with users across multiple regions reporting difficulties accessing digital services.

AWS has yet to issue a detailed statement on the cause of the disruption, though analysts noted that such incidents highlight the global dependence on centralized cloud infrastructure and its vulnerability to technical failures.
