Microsoft on Thursday announced a series of artificial intelligence upgrades for Windows 11, aimed at enhancing its Copilot assistant and making task automation easier, Reuters reported. Users can now activate Copilot using the wake phrase “Hey Copilot” to execute voice commands on any Windows 11 PC. The update also expands Copilot Vision, which analyzes on-screen content and answers related questions, to all markets where Copilot is available, with a text input option being tested for Windows Insiders.

In addition, Microsoft introduced an experimental “Copilot Actions” feature, enabling the assistant to complete real-world tasks like booking reservations or ordering groceries, initially with limited permissions. The company also launched “Gaming Copilot” on Xbox Ally consoles, allowing players to receive real-time tips and recommendations.

The upgrades are part of Microsoft’s effort to boost adoption of Copilot and compete with Google and Meta, integrating AI more deeply into everyday experiences. Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s consumer chief marketing officer, described the initiative as a step toward AI being naturally embedded across widely used devices and services.
