AI-Powered Dream Recorder Lets Users Visualize Their Dreams at Home
……………….

Dutch design studio Modem has launched the Dream Recorder, a do-it-yourself device that transforms verbal dream descriptions into visual representations using AI. Users simply record their dream by speaking aloud, and the device generates a brief, impressionistic video to evoke the memory.

Unlike traditional sleep-tracking tools, the Dream Recorder offers a more reflective experience by translating dreams rather than just documenting them. The open-source project requires users to build the device themselves, with 3D-printed components and a parts list costing around $333, all available on Modem’s GitHub.

Co-founder Bas van de Poel said the aim is to explore the subconscious and provide quiet moments for reflection, not constant content consumption. The device stores up to seven dreams at a time to encourage mindful engagement. A recent 2025 study in Communications Psychology found that younger individuals and those with positive attitudes toward dreaming are more likely to recall their dreams.
