Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to introduce humanoid robots into its manufacturing operations starting in 2028, as part of a broader push toward industrial automation.

The company unveiled the humanoid robot “Atlas” at the CES 2026 technology exhibition in Las Vegas. Developed by Boston Dynamics, a robotics firm owned by Hyundai Motor Group, Atlas is designed to perform repetitive and potentially hazardous tasks in factory environments.

According to Reuters, Hyundai plans to initially deploy the robots at its manufacturing facility in Georgia, United States. The robots are expected to assist with duties such as material handling and other physically demanding or high-risk jobs, with the aim of improving workplace safety and operational efficiency.

Hyundai said the move forms part of its long-term strategy to integrate robotics and artificial intelligence into its production processes. The company has described this approach as a key element of its future manufacturing model, seeking to reduce physical strain on workers while increasing productivity.
