Pope Leo XIV has warned against allowing technology to overpower human values, urging that innovation remain a tool for serving humanity rather than controlling it.

Speaking to a group of students attending the Global Education Festival at the Vatican, the pontiff emphasized that education should act as a transformative force for the world. According to The Guardian, Pope Leo XIV said that technology “must be at the service of people and human values, not the other way around.”

He called for the conscious and ethical use of digital tools to promote empathy, creativity, and human dignity, stressing that education is the foundation for lasting peace and for what he described as the “disarmament of hearts.”
