Webb Telescope Captures Milky Way’s Largest Star Nursery

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has unveiled stunning, vivid images of the Milky Way’s busiest stellar nursery, known as Sagittarius B2.
According to Anadolu Agency, the observatory focused on this giant molecular cloud located just a few hundred light-years from the galaxy’s supermassive black hole. Although the region contains only 10% of the gas near the galactic core, it is responsible for producing half of its stars.
Webb’s infrared capability allowed scientists to peer through the thick, star-forming clouds. The telescope’s MIRI instrument revealed unprecedented detail in the gas and dust. Researchers plan to use these detailed observations to study the size and age of the new stars, deepening our understanding of stellar formation in this tightly packed cosmic area.
