Musk’s xAI Data Center Achieves AI Milestone

Elon Musk’s xAI data center in Memphis, dubbed “Colossus,” has reached a significant milestone by simultaneously activating all 100,000 advanced Nvidia H100 chips, SEMAFOR revealed yesterday.

This achievement positions Colossus as the most powerful computer ever constructed, reflecting a remarkable technical feat for the young company, which operationalized the facility in under six months.

Despite Musk’s claims of the data center being the largest globally, industry experts express skepticism regarding xAI’s capacity to effectively manage such an extensive array of GPUs. Reports indicate that no other company has successfully connected 100,000 GPUs due to networking limitations.

The activation of Colossus enables xAI to train an AI model with unparalleled computational power, significantly enhancing its chatbot, Grok, which is marketed as an uncensored alternative to ChatGPT.
