OpenAI Unveils New AI Models with Enhanced Reasoning

OpenAI has announced the launch of two new AI models, “o1-preview” and “o1-mini,” designed to provide more thoughtful responses, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

The company claims these models outperform previous versions, particularly in complex tasks across various fields like science and mathematics, resembling the expertise of PhD students.

Notably, the new “reasoning model” achieved an impressive 83% score in the International Mathematics Olympiad qualifier, vastly superior to GPT-4o’s 13%. While the o1-preview will be available exclusively to ChatGPT Plus members, the more efficient o1-mini will be accessible for free with a simple sign-in. Despite lacking some features of ChatGPT, such as real-time web browsing, these new models mark a significant advancement in AI capabilities, especially in coding and problem-solving tasks.
