The United States’ Special Envoy to Iraq, Mark Savaya, has issued an official condolence message on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kadhim (peace be upon him), offering sympathy to the Iraqi people and Muslims worldwide.

In his statement, Savaya highlighted the spiritual significance of the seventh Shia Imam, emphasizing enduring values such as patience, justice, human dignity and non-violence that are reflected in his life and teachings. He noted that reflecting on these principles can inspire efforts to support stability, coexistence and mutual respect within Iraqi society and beyond.

Savaya also underscored the importance of respecting religious freedoms and the role of mosques and sacred sites in strengthening social solidarity. The envoy expressed his condolences to families of those affected by conflict and instability, and commended Iraqi authorities for their efforts to maintain security and order during religious commemorations.

His message comes amid large-scale observances in Iraq, where millions of pilgrims are participating in ceremonies and processions commemorating the martyrdom of Imam al-Kadhim, reflecting deep cultural and religious devotion.
