In a rare admission, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that global media narratives are significantly damaging Israel’s image worldwide. He attributed growing international hostility toward Israel to what he called “media propaganda” portraying Israeli policies in a negative light.

This statement comes nearly four decades after the late Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad al-Husseini al-Shirazi emphasized the power of nonviolence and the media in confronting occupation. In the early 1980s, Imam Shirazi called for exposing the injustices of the occupation through organized, peaceful media efforts rather than violence.

During a 1982 visit to the office of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in Beirut, a delegation representing Imam Shirazi relayed his belief that strategic media outreach could be more impactful than stone-throwing in resisting the occupation’s narrative.

Observers view Netanyahu’s recent remarks as a tacit validation of Imam Shirazi’s vision, highlighting the enduring relevance of nonviolent, media-based resistance in influencing global public opinion.
