Global Research Team Established to Examine Increasing Autism Rates

A global research team has been established to investigate the rising rates of autism worldwide, Khaama Press reported.
This international task force comprises hundreds of scientists and researchers and aims to address the increasing prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), often referred to as the “autism tsunami.”
The initiative seeks to uncover the underlying causes of autism, with findings expected by September 2025. The study will focus on identifying root causes and proposing effective strategies to combat the growing challenge. ASD is characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. Alarmingly, autism rates in the U.S. have risen from 1 in 150 children in 2000 to 1 in 36 children in 2023, a trend mirrored globally.
According to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, the task force will explore environmental, genetic, and other potential factors contributing to autism while maintaining a transparent and scientific approach. The research will involve reviewing existing data and conducting new investigations to ensure public accountability.
This international collaboration represents a significant advancement in autism research, with the potential to reshape how autism is understood, diagnosed, and treated. The initiative offers hope for millions affected by autism, aiming to improve policies, treatments, and support systems for families navigating the challenges associated with the disorder.
