The Imam Al-Shirazi World Foundation issued a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Education, on January 24, in which it called on the governments and regulations of Muslim and Arab countries alike to focus on consolidating the importance of education.
The foundation said in a statement, “Education is an urgent goal for the sane person to follow and sacrifice for, until global laws are enacted that legitimize education as one of the rights of the individual, male or female, adult or minor. Our Islamic heritage has many hadiths and prophetic commandments that require the pursuit of education.”
The organization called on the governments and regulations of Islamic and Arab countries alike to focus on consolidating the importance of education, focus in its policies and procedures on supporting its sectors with different titles, improve the ways of generalizing it by providing the appropriate environment for intellectual development, build facilities and implement laws approved by the international community.
The statement pointed out, “The International Commission of the United Nations, in turn, initiated the enactment of a number of binding laws in this regard, as explicitly stated in Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which calls for free and compulsory primary education, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted in 1989, beyond that, it stipulates that higher education shall be available to all.”
