The House of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi begins Ashura mourning ceremonies
Ashura mourning ceremonies have begun in the house of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in the holy city of Qom.
A statement by His Eminence’s office, received by Shia Waves News Agency, stated that “the Grand Ayatollah Shirazi attended the mourning ceremonies that began yesterday, Saturday, in the presence of large crowds of seminary students, scholars and general Shias of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).”
The statement added that “the mourning ceremonies in the house of His Eminence began from Sunday and are held at two times (morning and evening), until the thirteenth day of Muharram.”
It continued that “mourning ceremonies are held in the morning in the Persian language, and in the evening in the Arabic language, where a large gathering of Ahlulbayt followers attend to announce mourning and commemorate the great affliction of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him),” noting that “the ceremonies are broadcasted through various media platforms.”
In his speech to a group of preachers last Thursday, the Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stressed the revival of the mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the establishment of his sacred rituals despite all the surrounding circumstances.
