Grand Ayatollah Shirazi delivers speech on arrival of mournful month of Muharram (1444 AH)
Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, delivered a speech on the arrival of the mournful month of Muharram in his honorable house in the holy city of Qom.
His eminence began the speech with condoling the mourners asking Allah, the Almighty, to bring himself and them among those avenging for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. His Eminence prayed to Allah the Almighty to hasten the reappearance of the Master of the time to avenge Imam Hussein’s, peace be upon him, killing.
His Eminence said: “There is a narration on the authority of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family) in the book of ‘Kamil al Ziyarat’. In this narration, the Prophet, peace be upon him and his pure family, talks about the day of Ashura, describing how people will establish banners for the land of Karbala and not on the land of Karbala.”
His Eminence continues, “ In spite of the efforts of the imams of disbelief and the disseminators of misguidance in weakening the Cause of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him and his rituals, the Imam’s story is increasing and spreading more than ever before.”
The Grand Ayatollah also said: “I remember years ago I was in holy Karbala and there were seven processions for Tatbir (blood shedding for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him) only, where only about a thousand mourners participated in them, and some people were skeptical about these rituals and threatened those who revived them, and falsely claimed the death of some of the participants.”
His Eminence continues, “ Since my departure from the holy city of Karbala and since the year 1370 (AH), until the year 1390 (AH), it is said that the number of processions has increased to 33 processions. And today we can see these processions increase day by day.”
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi added, “ One can take loans for many aspects of life, but borrowing to visiting Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is the best thing ever. Today, we must try to be amongst those who establish these rituals as banners, each according to their capability. Today, we must spread the message of mourning for Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) to the whole world.”
The speech of his Eminence was delivered amid a sorrowful atmosphere and was attended by a number of scholars, seminary students, and masses of the lovers of Ahlulbait, peace be upon them.
