Grand Ayatollah Shirazi issues fatwa on the legal ruling for buying and selling land through the virtual world of Metaverse

In response to the requirements of the modern era and to avoid followers falling into suspicion or a forbidden act, the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Hussaini al-Shirazi, dedicated a part of his daily scientific session held in his honorable home in the holy city of Qom to answer these problems.

According to a statement issued by his Eminence’s office, received by Shia Waves News Agency, “His Eminence continues to hold his scientific sessions in his honorable house, in the presence of a group of honorable and virtuous seminary teachers and students of religious sciences.”

It added that “many questions are asked by those present to His Eminence regarding the new developments in dealings at the present time, which His Eminence answers according to his legitimate deductions and fatwas regarding one issue and another.”

The statement stated that “a session yesterday, Tuesday, in which one of the virtuous people asked a question about the purchase and sale of land through the virtual world known as (Metaverse), and whether his Eminence issued a fatwa regarding the permissibility or impermissibility of that,” noting that the Grand Ayatollah answered, “If he has the customary and rational finances, and that it includes generalities such as trading by mutual consent, and God has permitted selling, so it is permissible.”

The statement pointed out that “such questions and problems are often submitted to His Eminence and he answers them and deduces their judgment from the sciences of the Quran and the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in order to familiarize the followers with them in light of the continuous developments of the era.”
