The office of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, announced that today, Saturday, marks the first day of the month of Dhu’l-Hijjah, the last month of the 1440 Hijri year.

The office said in a statement, “The crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah was sighted and therefore it is proven by His Eminence Sayed Sadiq Shirazi, that today is the first day of the twelfth month of the Hijri calendar – Dhu al-Hijjah.”
