Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: People Have Been Tested Through Imam Hussein Since His Martyrdom Until Today

The senior religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, affirmed that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, remains a central test for people across generations, stressing that this trial has continued from the tragedy of Karbala until the present day.
His remarks came during a speech delivered to crowds of mourners marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, on the 10th of Muharram at his honorable residence in the holy city of Qom.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said: “Since the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the year 61 AH until today, people have been tested and examined through their position toward Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. We, too, are tested through Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, so that it becomes clear how much of our lives, wealth, abilities, and resources we dedicate to him.”
He noted that this test is renewed in every era through the extent of believers’ commitment to serving the Husseini cause and reviving its principles, reflecting sincere loyalty to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his eternal reformist uprising.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi has repeatedly emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Husseini rituals around the world. He has also called for using all modern means and technologies to convey the message of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, to different peoples, as the Husseini uprising represents a universal model of reform based on justice, freedom, and human dignity.
