Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: All Those Who Played a Role in Killing Imam Hussein Are Regarded as Killers

The daily scholarly session of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi was held on Monday, the 29th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH.

As in previous sessions, His Eminence answered questions from attendees on various jurisprudential issues.

During the session, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi addressed some rulings related to murder, stating that in cases of killing, the primary legal criterion is generally the direct perpetrator, meaning the person by whose hand the killing was carried out.

His Eminence further said that narrations state that Almighty God does not forgive the killers of prophets and saints.

Regarding the killing of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said that the previous rule applies to cases involving non-infallible individuals. However, in the killing of the Infallibles, peace be upon them, including Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, all those who played a role in his killing carry the ruling of a killer.

Accordingly, he said, Shimr is a killer, Ibn Saad is a killer, Ibn Ziyad is a killer, and Yazid is a killer.
