Holy Karbala and Damascus witnessed mourning ceremonies and religious gatherings to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), amid solemn spiritual atmospheres.
In Karbala, a unified mourning procession of seminary students took place on Tuesday morning, with wide participation from clerics, scholars, and students of religious sciences. The procession began from the courtyard of Al-Abbas Shrine, passed through the area between the two holy shrines, and concluded at the courtyard of Imam Hussein Shrine.
The ceremony concluded with a mourning gathering in which participants commemorated the legacy of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), highlighting his pivotal role in spreading the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt and advancing Islamic scholarship. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to his path in seeking knowledge and serving the community.
Meanwhile, in Damascus, the Sayyida Zainab area hosted mourning ceremonies at the Zainabiyya Seminary Hussainiya, attended by believers and religious students.
According to Sheikh Hassan Abdulhadi al-Shahristani, a representative of Grand Ayatollah Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, the commemoration reflects efforts to preserve religious rituals and revive the teachings and jurisprudential contributions of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
The gathering included Qur’an recitation, the Ziyara of the Imam, and a sermon addressing his scholarly and spiritual status, alongside parallel women’s mourning ceremonies featuring elegies and religious programs.
Organizers emphasized that such events play a vital role in strengthening religious awareness and maintaining the legacy of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) through continued cultural and religious activities.
