26 Jumada al-Awwal Marks Passing Anniversary of Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Reza Shirazi

The 26th of Jumada al-Awwal marked the anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Reza Husayni Shirazi.
He was the son of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Husayni Shirazi and the nephew of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husayni Shirazi.
At the age of 28, Ayatollah Muhammad Reza Shirazi received ijazat al-ijtihad (authority for religious ruling) from several Shia jurists after writing his book “Al-Tartib.”
He delivered regular religious and scholarly lectures to the Shia community in Kuwait.
His published works amount to 17 volumes.
Ayatollah Shirazi also taught fiqh, usul, tafsir, and Islamic studies in the seminary of Qom.
He passed away at dawn on 26 Jumada al-Awwal 1429 AH in Qom. After funeral rites at the shrine of Lady Fatima al-Ma‘suma (peace be upon her), he was buried in the shrine of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) in Karbala.
