20 Countries to Participate in International Quran Contest in Nigeria

Nigeria is set to host an international Holy Quran competition in August 2025, featuring Quran reciters from 20 countries, Iqna reported. The event is organized by Majalisu Ahlil Quran International Quranic Competition and spearheaded by former federal lawmaker Hon. Muhammad Adam Alkali, representing Bassa/Jos North in Plateau State.
The competition will begin in Jos, Plateau State, with the grand finale scheduled in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. Hon. Alkali highlighted the event’s goal to promote Islamic values and unity, reaffirming the Holy Quran as a guiding light for Muslims worldwide.
The organizing committee chairman, Gwani Sadiq Zamfara, confirmed that preparations are progressing smoothly to ensure a successful event. The Centre for Islamic Studies at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, is providing strong support for the competition.
Participating countries include Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Chad, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritania, Niger, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
