Kosovo to host third edition of International Quran Memorization, Recitation Competition

Kosovo is set to host the third edition of the International Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition from May 8 to 11, 2025, in its capital, Pristina, Iqna reported. Organized by the Presidency of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, the event aims to promote Quranic education and spirituality among youth.

The competition follows preliminary qualifications involving 2,350 contestants from 22 countries across the Balkans and Europe, including Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Italy, and others. A total of 160 finalists will compete in five categories: memorizing the entire Quran, ten parts, five parts, two parts, and reciting five parts by sight, all judged on performance and intonation.

The event is supervised by an international jury of Quranic scholars and memorizers from Saudi Arabia, Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, and Bosnia. The competition’s total prize value is 500,000 Saudi riyals, with overall costs estimated at 1.2 million riyals, reflecting Kosovo’s commitment to nurturing a Quranic generation.
