Syria Monitor Documents Deaths of 21 Women and Children Amid Rising Violence

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the deaths of 21 women and children across several parts of Syria between October 1 and 21, attributing the cases to killings, shootings, and explosions involving remnants of war.
According to a report released Thursday, the victims included 12 children and nine women, with incidents linked to widespread weapons, stray bullets, domestic violence, and unexploded ordnance.
The Observatory reported child deaths in several provinces, including cases involving indiscriminate gunfire, criminal violence, a child allegedly killed by his father in Rural Damascus, and a child shot by border guards in rural Homs. Four children also reportedly died in mine and war-remnant explosions in the Hama and Daraa countryside. Among the female victims were women allegedly killed by their husbands, women found dead under unclear circumstances, and victims of shootings in and around Damascus and elsewhere.
The Observatory warned that the spread of weapons, domestic violence, and explosive remnants continue to threaten civilians. It called for urgent measures to protect women and children, hold perpetrators accountable, curb indiscriminate gun use, and expand mine-clearance operations and public awareness campaigns.
