After more than a decade of suspension due to international sanctions, global payment giants Visa and Mastercard have resumed their operations in Syria.

This move coincides with the gradual return of Syria to the global financial network, marking a significant step towards reducing the country’s banking isolation.

According to Independent Persian, electronic payment services began operating in early May, with several banks also starting to accept international credit cards.

The report further notes that with the completion of technical procedures, the use of global payment cards within Syria is now possible, opening new avenues for financial transactions and international commerce.
