Syrian Observatory Reports Dozens of Civilian Deaths in One Week
…………
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that nearly 40 civilians, including women and children, were killed across Syria during the past week amid worsening security conditions. According to the monitoring group, the victims included at least three women and four children, highlighting the continued vulnerability of civilians.
The deaths were linked to a range of causes, including criminal violence, sectarian-motivated killings, family disputes, and explosions caused by landmines and unexploded ordnance left behind from years of conflict. In several cases, civilians were killed by stray bullets or during acts of revenge and targeted attacks.
The Observatory said the incidents reflect a broader breakdown in security and the widespread availability of weapons, leaving civilians exposed to daily risks. It warned that the ongoing violence threatens social cohesion and places civilians at the center of an unrelenting cycle of insecurity.
The group added that the absence of effective law enforcement and accountability continues to fuel instability, turning everyday life into a constant danger for residents in many parts of the country, while humanitarian and justice concerns deepen nationwide.
