Syria Launches Operation Against ISIS Cells Following Deadly Palmyra Attack
——————————
Syrian authorities have launched a large-scale security operation targeting sleeper cells of the extremist Sunni group ISIS in the countryside of Homs province.
According to Shia Waves Agency, citing Al Arabiya, the operation comes in response to a deadly attack on a joint Syrian–U.S. patrol near the ancient city of Palmyra.
Syrian government forces are focusing on multiple areas across Homs to identify and eliminate ISIS operatives, aiming to prevent further assaults.
The operation follows an attack that targeted Syrian and U.S. personnel in the region, resulting in several casualties and injuries among the troops.
