Over 30 Injured in Wedding Explosion as Syria Faces Renewed Security Threats
———————————
At least 33 people were injured as a result of an explosion in a wedding celebration in the village of Abideen, west of the southern Syrian city of Daraa, Khaama Press reported.
The blast occurred during the wedding ceremony, injuring several guests. Authorities have not yet released details about the cause of the explosion or whether it was accidental or deliberate.
Separately, Syrian media reported multiple explosions in the capital, Damascus, on the same day. Residents said three blasts were heard in the Mezzeh district, an area known for military and security facilities.
State-run Al-Ikhbariya television said three mortar shells landed near the Mezzeh military airport, adding that no casualties were reported. The source of the shells remains unknown.
In recent years, Syria has witnessed a rise in sporadic explosions and armed incidents, some occurring during public events, according to international media, deepening concerns about civilian safety.
Local authorities said security forces are investigating both incidents to determine responsibility and assess whether there is any connection between them.
