Sectarian Targeting of Alawite Teachers Coincides with Drone Attack in Latakia

In a move described by observers as “vindictive and sectarian,” the education directorates in Homs and Hama have issued arbitrary administrative decisions that specifically target teachers, the vast majority of whom are Alawite.
These measures include the dismissal of hundreds of teachers from their original schools and their forced redeployment to educational complexes in remote and unsafe areas, despite the lack of genuine vacancies. Observers noted that this policy puts the teachers’ lives at risk of extortion and kidnapping. They stressed that these actions were not implemented in other governorates like Damascus, its countryside, Tartous, or Latakia, indicating a clear sectarian targeting of a specific segment of Syrian society. Experts believe this is a deliberate policy of revenge aimed at dismantling the educational process in Alawite villages and humiliating the community by turning educational institutions into tools of political pressure.
Coinciding with these reports of internal administrative pressure, a serious security incident occurred on the coast. Local sources in Syria reported a loud explosion near the city of Jableh in Latakia province.
According to Al Mayadeen, the explosion was caused by an unidentified drone being targeted and intercepted. As of the time of the report, no further details regarding potential casualties or material damage from the incident have been released, according to Middle East News.
