Syrian Democratic Forces Seek Defense Ministry Post in Damascus
———————————-
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have made a major political demand, requesting that their leadership be granted the post of Defense Minister in the Syrian government.
Ilham Ahmed, head of the foreign relations department for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, revealed a proposal suggesting that SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi—or one of his high-ranking officers—be appointed as the next Minister of Defense or Chief of Staff of the Syrian Army.
According to Russia Today, talks between the SDF and the Damascus government are currently limited to an exchange of views, with no formal technical committee meetings yet underway. The main obstacles remain disagreements over military integration and the future political structure of Syria. Damascus has not yet issued an official response to the SDF’s proposal.
