Israel kills Syrian troops attempting to neutralize surveillance devices near Damascus

Israeli drone strikes killed at least six Syrian soldiers who were attempting to neutralize surveillance devices in a southern suburb of the Syrian capital, Kiswah, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to Syrian state media, the attack occurred after Syrian army units discovered and were working to disable surveillance and listening equipment near Al-Mani’ Mountain.
The drone strikes continued until Wednesday evening, preventing Syrian forces from fully accessing the area. While Syrian units managed to destroy some of the surveillance systems and evacuate the bodies of the deceased soldiers, several others were reported injured, and some military vehicles were damaged.
In addition to the strikes, the Israeli army has staged several incursions into the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria.
This latest attack is part of a series of Israeli strikes on Syrian military sites. According to reports, Israel has conducted hundreds of such attacks since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024. Israel also expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing a demilitarized buffer zone, a move that violates a 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria.
