Armed Raids Target Alawite Villages in Syria’s Tartus Countryside
——————————————-
Local sources reported that a group of five masked assailants launched a nighttime raid on a home in the Alawite-populated village of Al-Ransiyah, in the outskirts of Tartus. The attackers reportedly beat women inside the house, stole property, and attempted to abduct several individuals.
According to Shia Waves Persian, citing eyewitness accounts, the attack was thwarted after residents of the village mobilized and confronted the armed men.
In a separate incident the same night, the village of Kurto was also subjected to an armed robbery, allegedly carried out by individuals linked to the Jolani-led security apparatus.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that these incidents form part of a broader wave of attacks targeting Alawite communities in northern Syria in recent weeks.
Observers warn that the escalation of such raids is fueling fears of insecurity, weakening deterrence, and threatening to destabilize communities already under strain. Analysts believe the main objective of these assaults is to spread fear and deepen social divisions in the region.
Residents of affected villages voiced concerns that the continuation of these attacks could force displacement of families and create conditions for the expansion of armed group influence. Reports also indicate shortcomings in the response of security forces, with little progress in tracking or arresting those responsible.
