Syrian Defense Ministry Confirms Clash with U.S.-Backed SDF Near Manbij
————————-
The Syrian Ministry of Defense has confirmed a clash near Manbij between the Syrian army and the U.S.-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Khaama Press reported. The incident reportedly resulted in injuries to four Syrian soldiers and three civilians.
Syria’s state news agency, SANA, condemned the strike as “irresponsible,” although the SDF has yet to issue a response to the allegations. A Turkish Defense Ministry source cautioned the SDF to uphold its recent agreement with Damascus and to respect Syria’s territorial integrity, as Turkey considers the SDF a “terrorist organization” and opposes any form of Kurdish self-rule that could lead to Syria’s fragmentation.
This incident underscores the ongoing tensions and delicate arrangements in the region, with various regional powers closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further escalation.
