United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on multiple locations in Syria, calling for restraint amid escalating tensions in the region.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, on Wednesday, Guterres denounced Israeli military operations targeting Suweida, Daraa, and central Damascus. The airstrikes come as Israel increases pressure on the Syrian government to take stronger measures to protect the country’s Druze minority following recent unrest.

“The Secretary-General further condemns Israel’s escalatory airstrikes on Suweida, Daraa and in the center of Damascus, as well as reports of the IDF’s redeployment of forces in the Golan,” Dujarric stated. The remarks reflect growing international concern over the deterioration of security in southern Syria and the potential for broader regional destabilization.
