A massive demolition operation conducted by the Greater Bengaluru Authority early Saturday morning has left approximately 400 families from the marginalized Muslim Fakir community on the streets of Kogilu village.

According to a detailed report by Maktoob Media, the drive began at 4:00 AM while residents were still asleep, utilizing four heavy earthmovers to raze an entire neighborhood known as Fakir Colony and Waseem Layout.

According to displaced residents, the authorities provided no prior warning or eviction notices, leaving them unable to salvage basic necessities, food, or clothing before their homes were flattened. According to one elderly woman interviewed at the site, her family had lived in the area for thirty years and possessed all necessary legal documentation, including Aadhaar, PAN, and voter ID cards. She described a scene of total loss, noting that even their vending carts—their only source of livelihood—were crushed by the machinery.

According to officials from the Greater Bengaluru Authority, the structures were illegal encroachments on land adjoining a local pond near the Urdu Government School. According to official claims, the residents were migrants from Hyderabad and parts of Andhra Pradesh who had constructed homes without official permission. However, according to the affected families, they have been participating in local elections and sending over 500 children to nearby schools for decades.

According to Maktoob Media, nearly 3,000 people, including women and young children, spent the following night in the open winter cold without access to water, food, or sanitation. According to the residents, no government representative or relief agency has arrived to offer compensation or temporary shelter, leaving the community in a state of humanitarian crisis.
