Cyclone Montha is expected to strike India’s eastern coastal states, including Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, bringing heavy rain and strong winds,The Independent reported. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the storm is likely to intensify into a severe cyclone by Tuesday and make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28.

Authorities have evacuated around 50,000 people to relief camps, closed schools in coastal areas, and cancelled emergency staff leave. The cyclone is projected to impact about 3.9 million people in Andhra Pradesh, with wind speeds reaching up to 100 km/h. Disaster response teams and security forces remain on high alert.
