Pakistani authorities reported that at least 20 people have died in fresh heavy rains in northern Pakistan, with rescue teams continuing efforts to recover dozens of bodies trapped under mud and debris, media outlets reported. The rains, which hit the Swabi district, caused house collapses and flash floods, similar to incidents earlier in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Afghan border.

Officials said entire villages were devastated, and around 200 residents remain missing. Rescue operations have faced challenges due to ongoing bad weather, including the crash of a provincial government helicopter. The latest floods follow a week of seasonal downpours that have already killed more than 350 people, left tens injured, and caused widespread damage to homes, schools, and public services in the region.
