A suicide car bombing in North Waziristan, northwest Pakistan, killed at least 14 soldiers and injured 25 people, including civilians, Arab News reported. The attack targeted a military vehicle around lunchtime despite a curfew intended to aid security forces’ movements in the tribal district.

Officials said approximately 800 kilograms of explosives were used, causing extensive damage to nearby homes. Among the wounded were 15 soldiers and 10 civilians, including children. Pakistan’s military reported slightly lower casualties, stating 13 soldiers were killed and three civilians wounded, and accused rival India of involvement without providing evidence.

The Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where the attack occurred, is known for militant activity, with outlawed groups frequently targeting security forces. Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of harboring militants, a claim Kabul denies.

Analysts note a resurgence of banned groups like Lashkar-e-Islam and increased competition among militant factions, contributing to escalating violence in the region. Footage from the blast site showed injured children amid debris and shattered glass.
