India Targets Pakistani Mosques in Cross-Border Strike; Civilian Casualties Reported

Indian forces launched missile strikes into Pakistan’s Bahawalpur region early Wednesday, hitting civilian areas including two mosques and killing at least three people, Mehr News reported.
The attack left 12 others wounded, with victims including a child, as confirmed by local security sources.
Pakistan’s army spokesperson condemned the strikes as a “blatant violation of international law,” emphasizing that religious sites were among the targets. India’s military defended the action, citing prior ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region and vowing to respond to “provocations at a time and place of [its] choosing.”
The incident marks an escalation in tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors, who have historically clashed over Kashmir. No immediate retaliatory action from Pakistan has been reported.
