Pakistan sets up Center for addressing Afghan migrant complaints

Pakistan has launched a new center dedicated to addressing complaints from Afghan migrants and returnees, Khaama Press reported. The announcement was made by Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan. The facility, called the “Federal Control Room,” was established following a visit to Kabul by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar.
Sadiq Khan explained that the center’s primary role is to resolve issues faced by Afghan migrants, especially those encountered during their return to Afghanistan. Pakistan has reportedly expelled more than 84,000 undocumented Afghan migrants, many of whom have reported mistreatment by Pakistani authorities.
The Taliban has urged Pakistan to stop the harassment and mistreatment of Afghan migrants and to ensure more humane treatment during repatriation. The creation of this center represents an important effort to address the concerns of Afghan returnees and could help streamline repatriation processes while promoting fair treatment of Afghan nationals.
The effectiveness of this initiative in improving Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, particularly regarding the treatment of Afghan migrants, remains to be seen. The center’s success will largely depend on the cooperation between the two governments and their dedication to safeguarding the rights of Afghan citizens.
