Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Commits to Kurram Peace Agreement
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry announced on Saturday the government’s intention to fully implement the 14-point Kurram peace agreement without any concessions, Dawn Newspaper reported. Speaking at a joint meeting with members of the jirga and peace committee in Kurram tribal district, he emphasized the need for community cooperation in enforcing the accord.
Kohat Commissioner Syed Motasim Billah Shah outlined measures taken to restore peace in the region. The chief secretary ordered the demolition of illegal bunkers and urged residents to support a weapons collection initiative.
Chaudhry assured that the government would take all necessary steps to maintain law and order, urging locals to identify individuals causing harm. He promised complete compensation for damaged properties, noting that a damage assessment survey had been completed.
In the first phase of recovery efforts, restoration work on schools, mosques, and banks in Baggan has begun, with further repairs to homes and markets expected soon.
