30 Suspected Militants Eliminated in Northwest Pakistan

The Pakistan Army announced on Saturday that it has neutralized at least 30 suspected militants during a series of security operations in the northwest region, Anadolu Agency reported. Conducted in the Karak, Lakki Murwat, and Khyber districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan, the operations also resulted in six militants being injured.

In Lakki Murwat, 18 suspected militants were killed, while eight were eliminated in Karak and four in Khyber. The military reported that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased militants, who were allegedly involved in various terror activities targeting security forces and innocent civilians.

Pakistan experienced a significant rise in terrorist activity in 2024, with a 40% increase in attacks compared to the previous year, making it the deadliest year in nine years. A total of 444 attacks resulted in the deaths of 685 soldiers and police officers, along with 927 civilians, according to the Center for Research and Security Studies in Islamabad. Last year, security forces killed 934 suspected militants.
